He had already emerged as the public's favorite in the past few days on the occasion of the 51st Holstein licensing and elite riding horse auction in Neumünster, and the licensing committee also saw the strikingly marked stallion at the top of the 65 contender licensing lot: Esmeraldo by Emerald van het Ruytershof-Caretino bred by Friedrich Meyer (Nottfeld) was proclaimed the Holstein Champion Stallion 2021.

"This stallion immediately catches the eye both visually and with his outstanding quality at the jump," judged Breeding Director Stephan Haarhoff on behalf of the licensing committee. "Already during the pre-selection he stood out due to his ability and his very good front leg, he confirmed this during the licensing days in Neumünster. In addition, he presented himself as a decidedly typey stallion with an impressive set-up," Haarhoff continued about the representative of the 4847 line. A total of 22 stallions of the 2019 crop received the coveted approval rating, five of them were awarded a premium. In addition to Esmeraldo (catalog number 41), these were the first reserve winner Chavaros II by Charleston-Con Air (Reimer Detlef Hennings, Bendorf), strain 1571, with catalog number 18. Also, the second reserve winner Sassiere by Sandro Junior-Contender (ZG Brügge/Krawatzki, Kasseedorf), strain 4965, with catalog number 57, and catalog number 43, Hanley Light by. Hanley-Cassini I (Claus-Heinrich Petersen, Ahrenviöl), line 4303, as well as catalog number 28: Con Valor by Cornet Obolensky-Casall (Manfred von Allwörden, Grönwohld), line 5064. Stephan Haarhoff was satisfied with the licensing year: "With 70 stallions listed in the catalog, about 50 different sires were listed - there has never been such a genetically diverse lot in Holstein. In the process, the contenders proved to be wealthy jumpers overall." This was also the case with the first reserve winner, Chavaros II, whom Haarhoff described as an "always swinging, all-around successful horse." The second reserve winner, Sassiere, came up with "perfect tripartition and a clearing canter" and left nothing to be desired at the jump.

Auction of the stallions - Chavaros II further in Holstein. The winning stallion Esmeraldo remains with the Meyer family and should receive the best possible sporting support from breeder's daughter and team world champion Janne Friederike Meyer-Zimmermann at times. The first reserve winner Chavaros II was secured by Herbert Ulonska for the stallion station Maas J. Hell in Klein-Offenseth, he was knocked down at 115,000 Euros. At 95,000 euros, catalog number 23, Concur by Colman-Diamant de Semilly (Jesper Meyenburg, DEN), was the second best paid gelding. He transferred to Australian ownership. The premium stallion Hanley Light also aroused high desires, cost 91,000 Euros and, like Mortimer by Manchester van't Paradijs-Cascadello I (Christian Schröder, Groß Wittensee), Stamm 18B1, will eat his oats at Gestüt Zangersheide in the future after being knocked down at 48,000 Euros. The second reserve winner, Sassiere, was knocked down to the Czech Republic for 57,000 Euros. The 15 saleable licensed stallions cost an average of 55,400 euros. The most expensive unlicensed stallion was the Cascadello I-Contender son Camiso Negro (catalog number 14) with a hammer price of 40,000 euros. The 24 unlicensed saleable stallions changed hands for an average of about 22,700 euros.

Elite riding horse auction - Zoolaboo danced to the top. In the collection of 38 elite riding horses, it was a dressage-oriented candidate that triggered a heated bidding duel in the Holstenhallen and was auctioned off for the top price of 165,000 euros: The four-year-old Zoolaboo (catalog number 141) by Zack-Lorentin I (Peter Blohm, Uetersen), Stamm 474A, is already victorious in tests for young riding horses and will move to Austria. The three-year-old gray mare Carolina by Canvaro-Carolino (Reimer Detlef Hennings, Bendorf), Stamm 308, was worth 79,500 euros to customers from the USA. Ida von der Söhr (catalog number 115) by Vigo d'Arsouilles-Chambertin (Christian Schröder, Groß Wittensee), Stamm 18A2, who has already been successful at competitions, was purchased by regular customers at the Holstein auctions: b-Horses GmbH from Eckernförde with Managing Director Fabian Kühl was awarded 62,000 Euros by auctioneer Hendrik Schulze-Rückamp. A promising future is also in store for catalog number 137, Quintus by Quibery-Limbus (Hobe Magens, Ottenbüttel), Stamm 308, in the stable of the newly crowned European Eventing Champion Nicola Wilson (GBR). The latter was honored in Neumünster for her successes with the former Holstein auction horse JL Dublin by. Diarado and, together with his co-owner Deirdre Johnston (GBR), secured the large-framed bay for 50,000 Euros. The average price was around 36,700 euros.
